Oxford County OPP are warning businesses to stay alert after a scammer redirected over $100,000 from a company in Tillsonburg.
Police received a call at 7 p. m. on Monday, July 20 about a possible fraud when the business realized that a payment was supposed to go to the same account as before, but the name on the account had been slightly altered.
Though the investigation is still in its early stages, police encourage business owners to educate themselves about current scams and how to protect their businesses by visiting the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at antifraudcentre. ca.
Police probe shoplifting case
Norfolk County OPP are seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a shoplifting incident.
The police were called to a Main Street store in Port Dover around 1:29 a. m. on Thursday, July 2 after a man hid merchandise on his person and left without paying.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male with a shaved head, wearing a red T-shirt, red shorts, and black shoes. He has tattoos on his left cheek, left arm, and left hand.

Driver facing multiple charges
A 43-year-old man from Hagersville is facing several charges following a traffic stop in Hagersville.
Haldimand County OPP pulled over a vehicle on Main Street North around 9:45 a. m. on Tuesday, July 21.
The driver was arrested after police determined he was not allowed to operate any motor vehicle.
The accused faces charges for operation while prohibited, driving under suspension, and using an unauthorized plate. The vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
