A section of Highway 11-17 was closed due to the deadly crash near the Terry Fox National Historic Monument.
THUNDER BAY – A 58-year-old woman from Sault Ste. Marie lost her life in a motorcycle accident early yesterday morning in Thunder Bay.
The tragic incident shut down part of Highway 11-17 close to the Terry Fox National Historic Monument.
According to the OPP, several motorcycles were involved in the collision that occurred around 7:30 a. m. on Saturday, blocking both eastbound and westbound lanes near Highway 527, north of Thunder Bay.
Emergency responders were guiding drivers to turn back at the scene while transport trucks waited as the highway remained closed.
By around 6:40 p. m. on Saturday, the OPP confirmed that the highway had reopened.
The OPP stated that those who were involved in the crash were being evaluated for their injuries.
Ontario 511 first reported this event at approximately 7:40 a. m.
