Over 500 pounds of marijuana, estimated to be worth $10 million on the street, was confiscated during a police operation in Yallahs, St Thomas, on Friday afternoon, according to the authorities.
The officers reported that they acted on a tip and arrived at a location in the South Haven area around 3 p. m., where they allegedly found several white knitted bags filled with the drugs.
No one was arrested related to this seizure.
Investigators believe this shipment could be tied to the guns-for-drugs trade and are actively trying to track down individuals thought to be involved.
Deputy Superintendent Jovaine Willams, the crime officer for the parish, stated that this seizure “sends a clear message that the St Thomas Division remains relentless in disrupting the guns-for-drugs trade.”
“The removal of over 500 pounds of ganja from circulation is a significant blow to criminal networks that seek to exchange narcotics for illegal firearms. While no arrests have been made at this time, our investigations are ongoing, and we are confident that those responsible will be brought to justice.”
