Marcal Paper has purchased the St. Catharines Tissue Mill, which was established in 1912 and was previously owned by Bi Origin Specialty Products. The details of the deal have not been made public.

This mill is one of North America’s oldest papermaking facilities, currently manufacturing a range of specialty paper products and high-quality through-air-dried (TAD) parent rolls for paper towels and bathroom tissue.

“Adding the mill to our platform strengthens our ability to deliver premium tissue products while bringing in a deeply experienced workforce and a specialty paper business with a long heritage of innovation,” says Marcal’s CEO, Rob Baron. “We’re pleased to count its dedicated team members, including members of Independent Paper Workers (IPW) Union, Unit 124, into the Marcal family. We’re committed to investing in the mill’s continued success.”

Founded 90 years ago, Marcal operates nine facilities in the U. S.
