Charges have been filed in connection with a tragic incident at Walpole Island First Nation that took the life of a pedestrian over four months ago.
Around 10 p. m. on January 20, Lambton OPP, along with members of the Walpole Island First Nation Police and EMS, responded to a collision involving a pedestrian on Tecumseh Road.
A 29-year-old resident of Walpole Island was transported to the hospital where they were later pronounced dead.
The OPP reported that on May 12, a 34-year-old from Wallaceburg was charged under the Criminal Code for failing to stop after an accident resulting in death.
This individual has been released from police custody and is set to appear in court on June 11.
