Ron Realesmith has been removed from his position as president of Sarnia Legion Branch 62 while an Article Three complaint against him is being investigated.
Pam Sweeny, the Executive Director of Ontario Provincial Command, informed Sarnia News Today via email that John Surins will take over as president.
Sweeny mentioned that the complaint was initially submitted to her and has been forwarded to the Constitution and Laws Committee to determine if it was filed correctly.
She stated that she can’t discuss specific details.
“However under Article III Section 304 i. Where a complaint has been properly lodged in accordance with subsection 304 c and pending the final disposition of such complaint, the president of the command may deprive the member against whom the complaint is lodged, of clubhouse privileges and remove them from office or position held but removal only from those offices and positions held and positions held over which they have authority. Such deprivation and/or removal is not appealable.”
Sweeny added that if the complaint is withdrawn or found unsubstantiated at the end of the hearing, then the member will be reinstated immediately for all purposes and any removal from office will be considered as if it never happened.
Realesmith was president of Sarnia Legion Branch 62 from 2023 to 2025, briefly replaced by Les Jones before being re-elected in 2026.
