Grey Bruce Public Health has announced that Kelso Beach at Nawash Park is not safe for swimming during the long weekend.

The Health Unit reported that routine water tests conducted on Wednesday revealed bacterial levels above the standards set by the Ontario Ministry of Health. This advisory was issued in consultation with the City of Owen Sound.

The notice about unsafe swimming will stay in effect until further testing is done. GBPH plans to collect new samples from the beach early next week.

The splash pad at the park remains unaffected by this advisory since it only uses municipal treated water. The City of Owen Sound also confirms that the water in the Kelso Beach washrooms and other potable water sources at the park is safe to use.
