This week, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) shared details about its second quarter payments to host communities, with more than $500,000 heading to the area.
The Town of Hanover has received a total of $348,993 for hosting Playtime Casino, while the Municipality of Central Huron has been awarded $195,833 for Gateway Casinos. These payments cover earnings from July 1 to September 30.
In this fiscal year so far, OLG reports that Hanover has received $692,110. Central Huron has gotten $408,337.
OLG explains that these payments follow a formula outlined in the Municipality Contribution Agreement that is applied uniformly across all land-based casino sites in Ontario based on a scaled percentage of gaming revenue at each location.
Since 1994, host communities have benefited from over $2.4 billion in non-tax gaming revenue.
