Grey Bruce Public Health has announced that Kelso Beach at Nawash Park is not safe for swimming this long weekend.

The Health Unit reported that routine water samples taken on Wednesday showed bacteria levels above the Ontario Ministry of Health standards, leading to this advisory in coordination with the City of Owen Sound.

This notice will stay in place until further testing is done. GBPH plans to collect new samples from the beach early next week.

The splash pad at the park isn’t affected by this advisory since it only uses treated municipal water. The City of Owen Sound also confirms that the water available in the Kelso Beach washrooms and other drinking water sources at the park is safe to use.
