Faruk Dewan, a 63-year-old art instructor from Pickering, Ontario, is facing serious accusations after claims emerged that he sexually assaulted two young girls. Dewan, who was familiar with the families of the victims, allegedly visited their homes in Pickering and Toronto over an eight-month span, from November 2025 to July 2026, where he reportedly engaged in inappropriate touching. Police began looking into the matter in July 2026, and after a thorough investigation, they arrested Dewan in Ajax in August.
He has been charged with 11 counts of sexual assault and 11 counts of sexual interference with a minor. Dewan, who teaches art lessons from his residence in Pickering, is currently being held pending a bail hearing. Durham police have released his image due to concerns that there may be more victims. They urge anyone with information to get in touch with Detective Constable Gomez of the Special Victims Unit. These allegations have yet to be proven in court.
