A Halloween house fire and explosion in West Perth is not considered suspicious.

The incident at the two-storey home on Perth Road 163 in Fullerton happened around 12:30 p. m. last Friday. Firefighters with the West Perth Fire Department were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, but the home was heavily damaged by the blast with one side completely blown off.

No one was hurt as the home was empty at the time of the explosion and fire, Perth OPP said.

It was announced by police on Monday that the incident has been deemed not suspicious in nature.

A damage estimate and the cause of the explosion was not released.

A section of Perth Road 163 was temporarily closed while emergency crews and investigators with the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal were on scene.

“The scene has since been released back to the owners of the property and resources have cleared the area. There is no risk to public safety,” police reassured.
