Environment Canada has released a special weather statement for Ottawa and various areas of eastern Ontario, indicating that heavy snowfall is expected at times on Friday.

Between five to ten centimetres of snow is forecasted to fall across the region from early Friday morning into Friday afternoon. The heaviest snowfall is anticipated in the morning.

Roads and pathways may become challenging due to accumulating snow.

This statement also includes Gatineau. Check this page for the latest updates from Environment Canada.

Special weather statements, which appear in grey on the weather service’s map, provide information about significant weather events that don’t quite meet warning-level criteria, which are indicated in yellow, orange, and red.

Friday marks the first day of spring.
