Ontario Tech University is excited to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2026 during its Spring Convocation. Taking place at the beautiful Polonsky Commons on the university’s north Oshawa campus, this event will see around 2,600 graduates take their walk across the stage from June 3 to 5. The entire university community is eager to welcome a new wave of leaders and innovators into Ontario Tech’s expanding alumni network of over 33,000.
Convocation isn’t just a formal occasion. It’s a warm gathering that unites graduates, their families, and the campus community to reflect on their educational journeys, honor their accomplishments, and look forward to what lies ahead. These shared moments are crucial for students, showcasing their resilience, personal growth, and the connections they’ve built throughout their time at university.
This year’s ceremonies will also pay tribute to remarkable honorary degree recipients whose leadership and dedication span various fields such as business, health care, education, philanthropy, Indigenous economic empowerment, and community-building through sports. Their contributions embody Ontario Tech’s commitment to progress, purpose, and community spirit.
Ms. Tabatha Bull, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business, is recognized for her outstanding efforts in economic reconciliation, promoting Indigenous entrepreneurship, shaping public policy in corporate Canada, and advocating tirelessly for Indigenous economic empowerment and fair business practices.
Mr. Nick Eaves, Chief Operating Officer at Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, is honored for his strategic visioning skills and innovative approach that boost community involvement through sports.
Mr. Nitin Jain, President and CEO of Sienna Senior Living, receives recognition for his leadership contributions to Canada’s health sector as well as senior living services-improving lives with an ethos rooted in humility and compassion.
Mr. Ralph Lean is acknowledged as a lawyer business leader and philanthropist who has provided decades of dedicated service across Canada’s legal corporate sectors while offering wise guidance civic engagement aimed at nurturing future generations of leaders.
Mr. Mark Mulroney Global Vice Chair at CIBC along with Mrs. Vanessa Mulroney co-founder of Power of Privé are celebrated for their impactful roles in business philanthropy alongside enhancing community development efforts within Canada using their professional successes towards serving public interests.
