William “Bill” James Warren passed away peacefully at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. Bill was the beloved husband of Gretchen for 53 years.
Bill was the loving father of James “Jim” Warren and daughter-in-law, Korine of Atlanta, Georgia, and special grandfather of Dylan and Tessa. He is survived by his sister, Margie of Waterloo. He was predeceased by his parents, Dr. Carmi and Jean Warren.
Bill was born in Ottawa, Ontario, on November 13, 1944. He graduated from Lawrence Park C. I., as well as Ryerson University (now known as Toronto Metropolitan University). He spent over 25 years working with Zerox Canada in various management roles. Later on, he worked for Fair Copy Services (Xerox Subsidiary) as a logistics manager for four years. Bill also served as a former regional president for the Northern Ontario Xerox Canada Retirees Association.
In late 1999, Bill and Gretchen moved from Toronto to Lake Muskoka and then relocated to the Town of Gravenhurst in 2017 where they became very active in the community. Bill founded Muskoka Home Meal Service. A dedicated volunteer, he was a former Director of Muskoka Futures-an agency of the Federal Government aimed at developing and financing small businesses in Muskoka-and participated on the Steering Committee for Northern Ontario’s Small Business Development Pool Loans. Additionally, Bill was a former board member of Pineridge Muskoka HOA for five years; he held past roles such as president of the Sunset Bay Cottagers Association and secretary of the Gravenhurst Curling Club. He also contributed time as a board member of South Muskoka PROBUS Club and remained an active member of Gravenhurst PROBUS Club.
In his spare time, Bill enjoyed hobbies like boating on the lake, woodworking, and had a passion for classic cars. He loved to take afternoon catnaps!
A Celebration of Life will be held at Cavill Funeral Home on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 1:30-3:30 pm. Donations made to the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation would be appreciated and may be arranged online or through Cavill Funeral Home.
