With heavy hearts, the family of Luigi Salvi shares the news of his passing at the age of 94, on Sunday, March 8, 2026. He left us peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones.
Luigi was a devoted husband to the late Anna (nee Suardi-Acquaroli, 2023), with whom he enjoyed 67 years of marriage. He will be greatly missed by his three daughters: Manuela Brisebois (Raymond), Manola Salvi (Michael La Fontaine), and Serena Hillman (Darren). He took pride in being Nonno to Eric Brisebois (Megan), Jessica Coughlin (Adam), and Steffan Brisebois (Allison), and he was an affectionate Bis-Nonno to Anna, Lucy, Charlotte, Raymond, Jack, Michael, Henry, and Vivienne. Luigi also leaves behind his dear companion Bobby, the Maltese they brought home after spending a winter in Florida.
Born on February 7, 1932, in Albino, Italy to Celeste (1969) and Giacomina (1978) Salvi, Luigi was also preceded in death by his brother Lucio (1947).
He began working in his father’s foundry in Italy before relocating to Switzerland and France.
Luigi was proud of his time at Boeing in France where he worked on the fuselage for Europe’s first rocket. In July 1964, he and Anna immigrated to Canada with Manuela and Manola aboard the Cunard RMS Carmania. After settling in Montreal-where their third daughter Serena was born-the family moved to Windsor, Ontario. Luigi had a respected career at Arvid Machine Tool that took him around the globe until retirement. He had a special talent for seeing things differently along with a deep love for good food, wine, art and music.
Always curious about technology and cultures around him, he stayed active on social media to connect with friends and family worldwide. Together with Anna they traveled widely across Asia, South America and Europe; they explored Canada as well as all 50 U. S. states during motorhome adventures well into their eighties. A passionate soccer player in his younger days; he remained an avid fan of Atalanta and Milan throughout his life. In quieter moments he enjoyed hand-forging wrought iron while treasuring every second spent with family and Bobby.
Our family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the staff at Ouellette Campus’s 4th floor CCU-especially nurses Natasha and Mackenzie-as well as Dr. Saad; Doctor’s assistant Jessica; Dr. Bagherli; Dr. Rajan; Dr. J.
