Rodney George Thomas, who was born on May 9, 1949, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Thunder Bay after a long fight with cancer. Throughout his illness, Rodney showed incredible courage, strength, and determination.

Rodney was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his dear wife, Margie, who stood by him during his journey.

As a devoted father of three children-Aynsley, Nathan, and Jonathan-he was also a proud grandfather to Paige and Mitchell Mc Intyre; Logan and Aderyn Thomas; and Ethan, Adria and Elizabeth Thomas. His family meant the world to him, and he will be remembered for the love he shared with them and the memories they created together.

Rodney had many talents and held a deep appreciation for nature. With experience in conservation and forestry careers, he enjoyed working with his hands. He found great joy in building and renovating homes as well as fixing cars among other projects that interested him. He was always ready to lend a helping hand when something needed doing.

Most importantly, Rodney was a caring Christian whose faith guided his life. He lived out his beliefs through actions by helping others whenever possible. Known as a good friend to many people, he found happiness in supporting friends from church or even strangers in need. Rodney loved sharing the Good News while bringing kindness and hope to everyone around him. His generous spirit made an impact on all those fortunate enough to know him as he often gave without expecting anything in return.

Rodney will be greatly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family members, friends, neighbors from his church community-and all those who had the honor of knowing him. His faithfulness along with kindness will remain an important part of how we remember him. Though his brave battle has concluded now that he’s gone from this world; the love he shared will keep alive his memory among us.

A memorial service is set for Saturday October 3rd 2026 at 1pm at Westfort Baptist Church where Rev Allan Piper will officiate.
