George Richard Tarcea April 23, 1947 – March 24, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Richard Tarcea on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at the age of 78. George was born in Windsor ON, on April 23, 1947, to his loving parents, the late Sylvester (Sandy) and Catherine (nee Iatsko) Tarcea.
A proud graduate of W. D. Lowe High School, George dedicated nearly three decades to the Men’s clothing industry at Brotherhoods Men’s wear on Ottawa Street. He was affectionately known as “The Mayor of Ottawa Street.” After Brotherhoods closed its doors, he continued his career for another twelve years at Moore’s clothing. He had a remarkable talent for looking at customers and instantly knowing their sizes. Many would insist they were “not that big,” but George always knew best!
In the mid-90s, George met Nancy, the love of his life. Together they created a large blended family where connections went beyond blood ties. As a father figure to Nancy’s sons Tom and Andrew, he led by example with strong character and morals that inspired those around him. He leaves behind his wife of 33 years Nancy (Prince), along with sons Tom Nelson (Rachel) and Andrew Nelson (Wendy). George was also a proud Moishu to four grandchildren: Renee (Mat), Tegan (Scott), Alexandra (Chris), and Wesley (Feleecia), as well as ten great-grandchildren: Charlie, Jacob, Camden, Colson, Farrah, Harlow, Noa, Abram, Edith and Lilliana. Additionally, he was a brother-in-law and uncle to many nieces and nephews in the Prince Family and had numerous cousins and dear friends.
George took an active role in the Masonic order throughout his life. As a lifetime member of Harmony Lodge #579 for over fifty-seven years, he was both a master of the work and a mentor to many masons. He served as VW Master for Windsor District and was twice Past Master of Harmony Lodge. A proud Scottish Rite member holding a 33rd degree title as Past Most Wise Sovereign of Rose Croix; he also participated in Moramos Shrine Club activities where he volunteered countless hours for children’s events like picnics and Bingo fundraisers while playing Cymbals in the Oriental band during parades across the area. In his younger days alongside his close friend Brian Delisle at Windsor Chapter of De Molay Order as chapter Dad and chairman of the advisory board; he motivated countless young men locally and beyond.
A passionate Windsor Spitfires fan who loved staying active; George maintained an active membership at YMCA for several years. It wasn’t unusual to see him walking over ten thousand steps every day or enjoying his favorite shot of ice-cold Crown Royal each afternoon at four o’clock! Spending time with family and friends brought him joy-he truly loved having fun!
The family expresses deep gratitude to all PSWs, RNAs, and RNs along with Brouillette Manor staff for their outstanding care during George’s last days.
Visitation will take place at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home (South Chapel), located at 3048 Dougall Avenue (519-253-7236) on Sunday March 29th from 2:00 p. m. to 5:00 p. m. and again from 7:00 p. m. to9:00 p. m. A Masonic Service will be held Sunday evening starting at7:30 p. m under Harmony Lodge #579 A. F.& A. M. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday March30th at11:00a. m. Interment will followat Windsor Memorial Gardens.
