Keith Henry Potter from Thunder Bay passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026, at TBRHSC, at the age of 80, after a brave fight with cancer. He was born on December 2, 1945, in Aberdeen, Scotland; Keith moved to Murillo, Canada with his parents in 1946.
Keith was a loving partner to Heather Outhouse and a proud dad to his children Laura Valliere and Keith Potter (Patty). He adored his grandchildren Katrina and Brian Valliere, as well as Marcus, Nicholas and Bradley Potter. His great-grandchildren Charlie, Gracie-Lynn and Hudson brought him immense joy. He is also survived by sisters Anne Nicholetts and Charlene (Ken) Meyer, nieces Tammy Miller and Terri Dupuis, nephews Kyle and Travis Meyer, Heather’s children Tracey Miceli, Stephen and Tara Outhouse along with their families. He was predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Isobel (Betty), son-in-law Kevin Valliere and brother-in-law Terry Nicholetts.
A dedicated worker all his life, Keith retired from Provincial Papers. His retirement allowed him more time to enjoy what he loved most-especially being surrounded by family and friends. Keith particularly enjoyed gathering around the campfire at Little Sturge or more recently at Mirror Lake. These moments were among his happiest times filled with conversation, laughter, and lasting memories. He also liked hunting and fishing, cheering for the races with Keith Allan, as well as watching baseball. He rarely missed a Toronto Blue Jays game with Heather even during the last weeks spent in the hospital.
Those who knew Keith will remember his warm laugh, friendly nature, and kindness towards others. He had a knack for making people feel comfortable around him; his humor often left everyone smiling. Although his passing creates an emptiness in many lives, fond memories of him will continue to bring comfort to family and friends.
In line with Keith’s wishes, cremation has taken place without any formal service. Memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society if desired.
