January 26, 1949 – July 13, 2026
After a brave battle with illness, David peacefully embarked on a new journey.
Born in Orillia, Ontario, he was the son of Herb and Joan Fox (both predeceased). He shared 28 wonderful years with his partner Ruth Blaicher and was a devoted stepfather to Jon (Cheri) and Joel (Moya), as well as a proud step-grandfather to twins Jodi and Hana.
David was the brother of Michael Fox (Karen) and Stephen Fox (Valerie), both of whom have passed away. He was a loving uncle to Jason, Adon, Tanaz, Chris, Wade, Jessie, Craig, Travis and (Tim deceased), and took great joy in being a great-uncle to many great-nieces and nephews.
A natural leader at heart-thoughtful and generous-Dave always stepped up to organize events. He embraced life fully as a loyal friend who had an endless supply of jokes and stories that brought laughter.
A motorcycle enthusiast throughout his life, Dave proudly served two terms as Director of the Barrie Harley Owners Group (H. O. G.). He played an active role in the motorcycle community by leading numerous rides and events, including organizing the Ontario H. O. G. Rally held in Barrie in 2009.
In his varied career in finance, Dave worked as a manager at the Royal Bank before moving on to GMAC Financing. Ultimately he found success as a Real Estate Sales Representative with RE/MAX Chay Realty in Barrie.
Among his many hobbies, Dave loved scuba diving and dedicated time to Scouts Canada as a Rover Leader. He also cherished summers spent at the family cottage on Plum Point and enjoyed winters in Clearwater, Florida.
A passionate lover of animals, Dave welcomed countless furry companions into his life-including dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, raccoons-and so many more.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at I. O. O. F. Long Term Care Home along with the caregivers on Kempenfelt Court for their exceptional care and kindness during Dave’s stay.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Dave at the Barrie Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion located at 410 St. Vincent Street in Barrie (parking entrance off Ferris Lane) on September 22, 2026 from 2:00 p. m. to 5:00 p. m.
If you would like to honor David’s memory further than flowers are welcome; donations made to Parkinson Canada would be greatly appreciated.
