MARSHALL DUNCAN SMITH

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Marshall Duncan Smith on Thursday, February 19th at Humber River Hospital at the age of 79. He leaves behind his wife Lucie, whom he was married to for 58 years, their son Michael, and grandchildren Connor Smith and Courtney Smith (Kyle).

Duncan is also mourned by his sister Patricia Smith, sisters-in-law Hélène Johnston and Anna Mc Nay, as well as his bonus brother and sister-in-law Michel & Delphine Brunet. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

Duncan took pride in nearly 40 years of service at Canada Customs. He earned the nickname “Maddog” due to his determination in performing his duties.

<p From a young age, Duncan loved watching car races. Over time, it became an annual tradition for him to attend the Molson Indy car race in Toronto with Michael and his friends. As a retirement gift, he spent some time at Mossport where he participated in a car racing class and was thrilled to drive a racecar on the track.

Duncan will be remembered for his dry sense of humor and the amusing stories he shared on social media.

A devoted son-in-law, Duncan often used part of his vacation time to visit his widowed mother-in-law and take care of any necessary home repairs.

Above all else, Duncan will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandpa.

If you wish to honor him, donations can be made to your charity of choice or simply create happy memories with your loved ones.

A funeral Mass will take place in Quebec at a later date.
