The sexual assault charge against Reverend Ranjan D’Sa has reportedly been dropped.

This case originated from an alleged incident involving the accused and a victim within the Oakville church.

D’Sa has served in the clergy since 2010 and has worked at St. Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church in Oakville since 2016.

In a statement, the Diocese of Hamilton emphasized his innocence, stating that “he is a priest in good standing with the faculties necessary to continue to exercise his priestly ministry.” It was also mentioned that he was recently appointed Dean of Halton.

ORIGINAL ( on Tuesday, March 24th at 12:46 p. m.)

A Catholic priest from Oakville faced a sexual assault charge following a police investigation.

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) reported that their investigation started in early February after receiving an allegation involving a woman volunteering at an Oakville church. They claim the incident took place while she was at the church.

Police charged 53-year-old Reverend Ranjan D’Sa of Oakville with one count of sexual assault. He was released on an undertaking and is set to appear in court in Milton later on.

Investigators revealed that D’Sa has been part of the clergy since 2010 and has worked at St. Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church in Oakville since 2016. Authorities are worried there may be other victims and encourage anyone with information or those who might have been harmed to reach out to the Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit at 905-825-4777 ext. 8970.

Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers. “See something? Hear something? Know something? Contact Crime Stoppers” at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online.

Sexual assault refers to any unwanted touching of another person where it is sexual in nature or violates the victim’s sexual integrity. This can range from inappropriate touching to more severe cases involving penetration.

There’s no time limit for reporting a sexual assault, meaning you can report it regardless of how long ago it occurred for police investigation.

If you’re a victim of violence or sexual assault, you can reach out to the Halton Regional Police Service Victim Services Unit at 905-825-4777 for assistance.
