Gunpoint robbery of jewelry store leads to search for suspect in Oakville

Authorities are on the lookout for a male suspect following a gunpoint robbery at a jewelry store in Oakville.

This incident took place on May 14 at around 10 a. m. at National Jewellers located on Lakeshore Road West, according to the Halton Regional Police Service.

An employee was arriving to open the shop when they were confronted outside by a single male suspect armed with a handgun, police report.

The man ordered the employee to unlock the door and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry from the store. Fortunately, the employee was not physically harmed, but their hands were tied before the suspect escaped on foot. Investigators found a black BB gun left behind at the scene.

Police describe the male suspect as wearing a black hoodie, black athletic shoes, beige pants, gloves, and a baseball cap while carrying a backpack.
