The London Police have released a public safety notice following the release of a man from custody with connections to the Niagara Region.

Connor Bennett, 19, from London, is facing charges including making threats to cause death or bodily harm, possessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material, as well as accessing such material, according to the London Police.

Bennett was charged after an investigation that began on Tuesday, July 28. Authorities received information regarding threatening comments made by a male directed at a teenage girl he knew.

Bennett appeared in court in London on Aug. 11 and was granted release following a contested bail hearing.

His bail conditions require him to reside in Thorold, Ontario; refrain from having any electronic devices or items that can access Wi-Fi; not communicate with anyone under 18 unless accompanied by his surety; and not possess any weapons.

Based on details gathered during the investigation, police indicated they have identified “concerns for public safety.”

The police are taking extra measures to inform the community about this situation.

Investigators are also looking to identify anyone who might have relevant information regarding this case or who thinks they may have interacted with Bennett under similar circumstances.

Authorities have shared a photo of Bennett for public awareness as part of their ongoing investigation.

If anyone suspects Bennett might be violating his release conditions, they are urged to contact police without putting themselves in danger. In case of an emergency, call 911

Those with information related to this matter or who believe they may have encountered similar behavior are encouraged to reach out to the London Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section at 519-661-5670.

Anonymity is guaranteed for tips provided through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or via London Middlesex Crime Stoppers.
