Two men from Hamilton, along with a third individual, are facing drug trafficking charges after RCMP reported that investigators confiscated over 170 kilograms of cocaine valued at around $4.5 million.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) shared in a news release on Friday that the arrests were part of an investigation into a “large-scale and sophisticated” cocaine trafficking network operating throughout the Golden Horseshoe.
On July 8, authorities executed a search warrant at a condo in Toronto, which police claim was used for storing and preparing cocaine for sale.
The two Hamilton residents were taken into custody inside the condo without any trouble, while another suspect from Brantford was arrested nearby, according to the RCMP.
Law enforcement officials stated that they seized more than 170 kilograms of cocaine from the Toronto location, estimated to be worth about $4.5 million on the street.
Investigators also conducted additional searches at various sites in Hamilton, where they found around $165,000 in cash and jewelry believed to be proceeds from criminal activity.
The RCMP has charged all three individuals with possession of cocaine for trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
The investigation is still ongoing, according to police sources.
