Brandt Vanderhyden, a 37-year-old from Toronto, has admitted guilt to two charges connected to the sex trade in a Barrie court. Vanderhyden, who is now a preacher, confessed to posting online ads for sexual services and accepting $240 from a woman he sold to a client in September 2022. This plea was made at the Barrie courthouse on October 27, 2026, just as jury selection was set to start. He faced additional charges like kidnapping and sexual assault, but those were dropped when two complainants didn’t show up in court due to safety concerns.
Claiming he’s turned his life around, Vanderhyden was sentenced to time served after spending four years under house arrest with an electronic monitor. He’s been released and will serve three years of probation, along with a $240 restitution order for the complainant.
