A 16-year-old boy from Ontario, whose body was discovered in a remote area of Saskatchewan last month, was laid to rest in Brampton on Saturday.

The family of Jay’siiah Webb-Long reported him missing to Peel Regional Police back in April 2025. Authorities believe he left Ontario in March of that same year. At the time he vanished, it was thought that he was living in Pelican Narrows, a small village located within the boreal forest of central Saskatchewan.

In July 2025, the Homicide Investigation Unit of the Saskatchewan RCMP, which was previously called the Major Crimes Unit, began looking into his case after officials deemed his disappearance suspicious.

Nearly a year after losing contact with his family, RCMP officers found his remains during a planned search near Pelican Narrows. While the cause of death hasn’t been made public yet, police are treating his disappearance as a homicide and continue their investigation.

A Go Fund Me campaign has been created in Jay’s name to support his family with funeral costs and other unforeseen expenses. As of June 13, 2026, it has raised over $24,000 toward its $26,000 goal.
