A pilot from Barrie, Ontario, who operated around 900 flights both domestically and internationally, is now facing criminal charges for posing as a captain without having the required air transport licence.

Geoff Wall, a former licensed Air Canada pilot with 27 years of experience, allegedly used forged documents to falsely demonstrate his qualifications as a captain on various aircraft types, including the Boeing 767, 777, and 787.

Peel Regional Police held a news conference today to discuss the investigation known as Project Icarus and the charges against Wall.

According to Lead Investigator Deputy Sergeant Chad Mitchell, this inquiry began in February after Transport Canada noticed irregularities in Wall’s documentation during a routine operational evaluation.

He mentioned that the pilot licence paperwork provided by Wall was scrutinized and subsequently referred to Peel Regional Police for further criminal investigation.

Deputy Sergeant Mitchell claims that evidence collected during the inquiry indicated that Wall served as a captain from 2009 to 2025 “without having ever possessed an airline transport pilot licence…known as an ATPLA…a requirement to operate the type of aircraft the accused flew at the rank of captain.”

The police also allege that Wall had not taken or passed necessary Transport Canada exams to obtain an ATPLA and that he possessed and presented “altered and counterfeit government-issued pilot licences and documentation.”

Wall is set to appear in Brampton court on June 29th facing charges including fraud over $5,000, two counts of uttering forged documents, three counts of possession of counterfeit marks, and public mischief.
