Authorities are looking into the death of a man who was discovered with several stab wounds in Oshawa early Tuesday morning.
Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) reported that they received a call around 4:15 a. m. regarding a man found on the street showing clear signs of injury near Park Road South and John Street West.
The victim was rushed to a trauma center in Toronto where he was declared dead. This case is now being treated as a homicide investigation.
Officials have yet to confirm the specific location where the stabbing took place and mentioned that there is an extensive police presence in the area where the man was located.
A few officers were seen entering a nearby residence on Tuesday morning, which had been secured with police tape.
“That residence is connected to this event,” Staff Sgt. Joanne Mc Cabe informed reporters on Tuesday. “What the connection is is part of the ongoing investigation and what role it played. However, I can confirm that we are currently on scene at that residence.”
Mc Cabe noted that investigators are still working to figure out if the stabbing happened inside the home.
The authorities have not disclosed the victim’s identity or age, and there’s no immediate description of any suspects or details about what led up to the stabbing.
