The majority of wildfires in northwestern Ontario are now either controlled or completely out, based on the Forest Fire Info Map.
Near Lake Nipigon, there was a report of five fires burning yesterday. Three of those fires have been extinguished, but one is still classified as out of control.
In the Thunder Bay area, two fires are currently being contained, while another has been marked as under control.
Further north, close to the Red Lake district, one wildfire remains out of control.
Officials indicate that the overall risk for new fires in the region is currently low to moderate as a heat wave moves eastward toward Toronto.
