York Regional Police have charged three individuals linked to a suspected kidnapping plot in the City of Markham.
According to a news release, officers from the Hold-Up Unit began looking into a suspicious situation on May 21, 2026, near Masseyfield Gate and Steeles Avenue. The suspects are Donaldson Smith, 30, Tenzin Tsegyal, 25, and Yeshi Tendar, 25, all residents of Toronto. Smith and Tsegyal face several charges including conspiracy to commit an indictable offense, criminal harassment, possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of proceeds of crime. Tendar is charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offense and criminal harassment.
Authorities state that the investigation is still active and are encouraging anyone with information to reach out to the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
