Restaurants and bars with licenses in Ontario can serve alcohol until 4 a. m. during the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

This temporary extension was announced by the province this morning, highlighting its aim to boost tourism and support local businesses during the international soccer event.

Toronto will host six matches starting June 12, and these extended hours will be in effect from June 11 to July 19.

Normally, last call for serving alcohol is at 2 a. m., but the Ontario government has made temporary adjustments before for significant sporting events like the recent Olympic gold medal hockey match between Canada and the United States.

The LCBO will also extend operating hours at 27 stores located in the Greater Toronto Area and Ottawa from June 11 to July 19.

The province states that those stores will be open from 9 a. m. to 11 p. m. Monday through Saturday and from 9 a. m. to 8 p. m. on Sundays.

This report by The Canadian Press was first May 19, 2026.
