Two individuals were taken to the hospital after what the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) described as a “serious collision” on Road 38 in South Frontenac Township.

Shortly before 11:40 a. m., two cars collided on Road 38 between Wilton Road and Quinn Road, causing one vehicle to roll over. The overturned vehicle came to rest on its side on the west side of Road 38. Witnesses reported that the accident, which happened near the entrance to Reid’s Towing yard in Harrowsmith, resulted in significant damage to both vehicles and left debris scattered across the road.

“The Road 38 Collision is being treated as a serious collision,” Sergeant Erin Cranton of the East Region OPP told Kingstonist.

“The investigation and details surrounding the collision are ongoing. I can advise that the road will be closed for several hours.”

Cranton confirmed that two vehicles were involved in this incident, and that two people were transported to hospital with “unknown injuries.”

South Frontenac Fire and Rescue along with Frontenac Paramedics responded to the scene alongside members of the OPP, and emergency responders remained present as of 1:30 p. m.

Road 38 is closed in both directions between Quinn and Wilton Roads, and drivers are advised to take detours using Quinn Road and Yarker Road to reconnect with Wilton Road.

This is a developing story. This article will be updated as more information becomes available.

UPDATE (Thursday, May 7, 2026):
Road 38 reopened around 5:50 p. m., having been closed since approximately noon on Thursday, May 7, 2026, due to the aforementioned collision that sent two people to hospital.
