The Ontario Provincial Police have arrested a 67-year-old man after a neighbour’s dog was shot in Peterborough County.
Authorities say they were called out on Sunday morning when the dog’s owners reported that their pet had been missing for about a week.
The family heard gunfire around the time their dog disappeared and believed their neighbour had shot and killed it.
<p Police say they have since recovered the dog's remains.
After talking with everyone involved, police charged the neighbour with killing or injuring animals.
He is expected to appear in court this September.
