The “1st Ever Great Turkey Drop-Off” came to a close in Waterloo on Sunday, showcasing strong community spirit by collecting 419 turkeys for local families in need.

This three-day event, organized by FLX Local Media’s Classic Hits 99.3 along with Wilkins RV, Reister’s Appliances, Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes, and Music for the Mission, took place until noon Sunday at the Walmart parking lot.

Besides turkey donations, Catholic Charities also received over $900 in cash contributions and numerous non-perishable food items. These donations will help support programs that assist families throughout Cayuga, Seneca, and Ontario counties.

Shoppers were encouraged to buy frozen turkeys inside Walmart and drop them off at the RV and freezer area. Those who couldn’t make it in person could still donate by purchasing online through the Catholic Charities website.

Lisa Cruz from Classic Hits 99.3 broadcasted live over the weekend and expressed her gratitude to the community, saying she was “overwhelmed by the generosity of listeners, shoppers, sponsors, and everyone who helped make this first-ever event such a success.”
