A tragic accident involving an SUV and several loose horses has resulted in the death of one woman in Renfrew County, leading to an active investigation by local authorities.

Emergency teams rushed to a distressing scene Wednesday night after a vehicle collided with multiple loose horses on Highway 132, west of Renfrew, resulting in four deaths, including that of the driver.

The fatal single-vehicle incident took place in the Township of Admaston/Bromley.

The crash occurred at 9:30 p. m. OPP officers, alongside local fire services and emergency medical personnel, responded to the single-vehicle accident involving an SUV and loose horses. There was no information given about how the horses got free and ended up on the road.

A 39-year-old woman from Arnprior was declared dead at the scene, while three horses also perished due to the crash.

The investigation led by the Renfrew OPP is ongoing, with help from members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team, which includes a Collision Reconstructionist and Technical Collision Investigator.

“The OPP recognizes the emotional impact this incident has on the local community,” says an OPP news release.

Anyone with details that might aid in the investigation is encouraged to reach out to Renfrew OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
