The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Town of Petrolia are inviting residents to come learn about how to prevent fraud and protect themselves from falling victim.

A presentation on fraud awareness is set for Thursday.

During the event, Lambton OPP officers will cover common scams, new tricks to be aware of, and practical tips on how to stay safe from fraud.

The town decided to host this public event at Victoria Hall during a meeting back in January.

This free session will be held on March 12, from 7 p. m. to 9 p. m. at Victoria Hall, located at 411 Greenfield, Petrolia.

No registration is necessary.

This presentation follows two others that took place earlier in the week in Sarnia and Watford.

The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre reported over 112,000 fraud cases in 2025, with victims losing more than $704 million.
