Authorities are thanking a Good Samaritan for saving a driver following a two-car accident that left another individual seriously hurt.
The incident involving an SUV and a car occurred just before 6 p. m. at the intersection of Thompson Road East and Duncombe Road in Waterford.
The impact caused the SUV to ignite, as noted by West Region OPP Sgt Ed Sanchuk in a social media update.
“A Good Samaritan heard this crash, came out and rescued that driver from that burning SUV,” Sanchuk said.
The driver of the car sustained serious injuries and was flown to the hospital by Air Ornge, he added.
“I’d just like to take this opportunity to thank that Good Samaritan that came to the aid of that one driver and pulled that driver out of that burning vehicle. I can tell you more than likely they saved that individual’s life,” Sanchuk said.
Roads in the area were expected to be closed for several hours so police could conduct their investigation.
