Tillsonburg Business Loses Over $100,000 to Scam

Oxford County OPP are warning businesses to stay alert after a scammer redirected over $100,000 from a Tillsonburg company.

Police were notified at 7 p. m. on Monday, July 20 about a possible fraud when the business believed they were sending a payment to the same account as before, but noticed that the account name had been slightly altered.

While the investigation is still in its early phases, police encourage business owners to educate themselves about current scams and learn how to protect against them by visiting the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at antifraudcentre. ca.

Police Investigate Shoplifting Case

Norfolk County OPP are seeking help from the public to identify a suspect involved in shoplifting.

Officers responded to a call at a Main Street store in Port Dover around 1:29 a. m. on Thursday, July 2 after a man hid merchandise on his person and left without attempting to pay.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male with a shaved head, wearing a red T-shirt, red shorts, and black shoes. He has tattoos on his left cheek, left arm, and left hand.

Driver Faces Multiple Charges

A 43-year-old man from Hagersville is facing several charges following a traffic stop in Hagersville.

The Haldimand County OPP pulled over a vehicle on Main Street North around 9:45 a. m. on Tuesday, July 21.

The driver was arrested after it was determined that he was not allowed to operate any motor vehicle.

The accused has been charged with operating while prohibited, driving under suspension, and using an unauthorized plate. The vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
