Arrest Made After Woman Found Dead in Burlington

A man has been taken into custody following the discovery of a woman’s body in an apartment complex in Burlington early Thursday morning.

Halton police report that they received a call from the woman’s family requesting a wellness check at approximately 6:30 a. m. at 3020 Glencrest Rd., situated near Guelph Line and New Street.

Upon arrival, officers found a woman in her 40s who was deceased. Authorities indicate that no other individuals were present inside the apartment.

The circumstances surrounding the woman’s death are still unclear.

Investigators have stated they received tips about the suspect fleeing to Niagara Falls.

This prompted Niagara Regional Police to be notified, leading to the arrest of a Burlington man in his 40s around 7:45 a. m. Charges are still pending. Halton police confirm there are no additional suspects being sought at this time.

Authorities note that the victim and suspect were acquainted with each other. It remains uncertain if the suspect resided in the same building where the victim was found dead.

No information is available regarding whether the suspect had prior encounters with law enforcement.

Investigators assure there is no danger to public safety.

Residents near Glencrest Road and Guelph Line should anticipate an ongoing police presence. Police tape is visible at the back of the apartment complex where recycling bins are located.

If anyone has information concerning this homicide investigation, they are encouraged to reach out to the Major Crime Bureau at 905-825-4776.
