Hamilton Police are looking into the suspicious death of a 54-year-old man found in Waterdown earlier this week.
On Monday, September 7, 2026, at around 6:22 p. m., the man was discovered unresponsive on the sidewalk close to Dundas Street East and 1st Street. He was taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead.
Initially, based on what was known, the death didn’t seem suspicious.
However, as days passed, investigators reviewed video footage, talked to witnesses, and received more information including details from a post-mortem exam. New information came to light that raised questions about how the man died.
The case is now being treated as suspicious and has been handed over to the Hamilton Police Homicide Unit for further investigation. At this point, it hasn’t been labeled a homicide.
Detectives are asking anyone who was in the area of Dundas Street East between Spring Creek Drive and 1st Street from 6:00 p. m. to 6:30 p. m. on September 7 and might have seen anything relevant to come forward.
The police are also requesting that residents, businesses, and drivers in the area check their security cameras or dash cams from that time period. They’re especially interested in any footage that shows activity along Dundas Street East or nearby areas.
