Antonia Gerardi passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on September 8, 2026 at the age of 84. She was a loving wife to Armando for 60 wonderful years. Antonia was a caring mother to Anthony (Melissa), Andre (Kathy), and Josie Pizzo (John). She took great pride in being Nonna to Gianni, Luca, Mia, Isabella, Ava, Andre, Jonathan, and Myla. She was also a dear sister to Bernardino, Felicia, Franco (the late Orienda), Alighiero (the late Rosetta), and Natalina (the late Pietro). Antonia is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends across Canada, the United States and Italy.
Antonia played a key role in building Armando’s Restaurant alongside her husband Armando Gerardi. They turned their dream into an incredibly successful business that is now entering its 60th year. What began as one location fueled by her love for cooking has expanded into a well-known brand. This reflects her exceptional leadership skills and strong work ethic. Today, second and third generations of the Gerardi and Pizzo families continue this journey with the same passion and recipes she shared with them. As a trailblazer in the restaurant industry as a female entrepreneur, she demonstrated that success in business can coexist with faith and strong family bonds. As a cornerstone of the Gerardi family, she embodied hard work, integrity, and determination.
The Gerardi family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff of Windsor Regional Hospital, 4 West for their outstanding care and compassion provided to Antonia during her last days.
Visitation will take place at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home – South Chapel located at 3048 Dougall Avenue (519-253-7236) on Sunday, September 13, 2026 from 2-4 pm and again from 6-8 pm. Following this visitation period, Antonia will be honored at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church at 834 Raymo Road in Windsor on Monday September 14th from 10:00 am until the start of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Entombment will follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
