Special Olympics Sarnia is celebrating four local athletes who recently brought home medals while representing Team Ontario at the Special Olympics Canada Summer Games in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
A gathering will happen on Saturday afternoon, from 1 p. m. to 3 p. m., at Imperial City Brew House.
Chris Carpeneto won gold in standing long jump and bronze in mini javelin, while Joanna Edwards secured bronze medals in the 100-metre race and running long jump.
Noah Pyke achieved two golds in ten-pin bowling, and Angela Sauve took home a gold and a bronze.
Special Olympics Sarnia mentioned that all four athletes will attend the celebration along with their families, friends, and coaches.
Members of local police services are also invited to help recognize the athletes and hand out certificates.
Speeches will be made by Athletics Coach Sarah Luttrell and Bowling Coach Harvey Leckie, plus there’ll be a chance to meet and greet with the athletes.
