Marlene Jean Readman (née Robertson) passed away peacefully at Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus Ontario on July 25, 2026 with her son and daughter by her side.

Born in 1942, to Gilbert and Jean Robertson, Marlene lived a life filled with family, faith and kindness towards others.

In 1965 she married Ron Readman in Orillia, ON. Together they started their life on a farm before moving to the city. In the city, Marlene dedicated her nursing career to Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital, where she served with great care and commitment.

Marlene truly flourished when she became a mother to Chris and Marcia. She was always there cheering for them during every important moment of their lives. Whether it was attending Chris’s hockey games or enjoying Marcia’s vocal performances from the front row, her pride and love for her children were always clear.

She is also fondly remembered by her sister Eleanor Graham (Rob). Family gatherings brought her joy as she spent time with Ron’s sisters Joyce Graham (Harold) and Brenda Telford (Roy, predeceased), along with many nieces and nephews.

Welcoming Marcia’s husband Gord and Chris’s wife Tina into the family felt natural for Marlene as it simply meant expanding her family circle.

The time she spent with her grandchildren brought her immense happiness. Hannah, Gordie, Brooke and Connor were truly her pride – everyone could see it! She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Henley and Braelynn.

Marlene loved deeply and appreciated life’s simple pleasures – camping trips with Ron, doing puzzles, and following her favorite teams; the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Blue Jays, along with curling matches.

Her kindness and dedication will be remembered by all who knew her as well as the love she freely shared across generations within her family.

Cremation has taken place without any services at this time. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Groves Memorial Hospital. Special thanks go to Dr Martin, Dr Muldoon and End of Life Nurse Paulette as well as nurses Kathlyn and Claire along with PSW Doris. They provided compassionate care during those final days ensuring that all wishes of both Marlene and the family were met. Because of this wonderful care, memorial donations may be made in Marlene’s name to Groves Memorial Hospital through this link: www. grovesfoundation. com/ways-to-give/donate-now or can be made through Carson Funeral Homes at 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia (705) 326-3595.
