Local union leaders gathered with Liberal Members of Provincial Parliament and a Michigan State Representative to talk about trade and tariffs between Canada and the U. S. on Wednesday.
“What happens in Windsor affects folks in the GTA, it affects folks throughout the entire province so it’s really important that I’m here today and listening and then advocating on behalf of the community,” said MPP Rob Cerjanec, Ontario Liberal Critic for Economic Development and Innovation.
Michigan State Representative Mike Mc Fall mentioned that he wanted to engage with workers to strengthen the bond between Ontario and Michigan.
“We’re very tied together, whether it’s with labour, whether it’s with products or whether its just with friends and family,” said Mc Fall.
“When you’re on the other side of the United States, people might not realize how close the ties are here and so doing things like this in a public fashion, where we hold roundtables and we hold discussions to reinforce that so that people across the country can see that,” said Mc Fall.
Media were not invited to listen to the roundtable discussions held at Unifor Local 444’s office.
