A 29-year-old woman has passed away in the hospital after suffering injuries from a fire in London, Ont.’s Old East Village on Friday, which also left three others critically injured, according to London police.
The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office and the Major Crime Section of London Police Services are still looking into what happened after a fire tore through a residential building at 745 Dundas St.
Firefighters began battling the flames around 10 a. m., with smoke and fire visible from the second-floor windows of the building.
The damage is estimated at $500,000, as reported by police.
Deputy Chief Gary Bridge of the London Fire Department mentioned on Friday that eight to ten people were inside when emergency crews arrived.
Police did not provide an update on Monday regarding the condition of the other two individuals who remain in critical condition.

Bridge noted that there had been an ongoing investigation related to fire code violations concerning this property, which is currently before the courts. Property records indicate that Radium-1 Development Ltd. owns the building.
City officials confirmed that earlier this year, the owners were made aware of unresolved Property Standards and Building Code orders.
The London Fire Department previously informed CBC that due to extensive damage, residents will not be able to return for some time. They are collaborating with the Canadian Red Cross and local partners to arrange temporary housing for those displaced tenants.
