The 2027 International Plowing Match (IPM) will definitely take place in Lambton County.
In a news release on Thursday, the Ontario Plowmen’s Association (OPA) clarified that a previous announcement from last week was incorrect.
“Our press release of Friday, July 3, 2026 incorrectly indicated that the 2027 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo would not be held in Lambton County,” said Douglas Beatty, a volunteer with the Local Committee of the International Plowing Match and Rural Expo.
He mentioned that some members of the IPM Local Committee have stepped back from preparations for the upcoming match, which was initially set to happen in Brigden.
“It is the intention of the Ontario Plowmen’s Association to continue plans to host a Match in Lambton County in 2027,” read the news release. “We apologize for any inconvenience which our error may have caused. Please refer any questions concerning the 2027 Match to the Ontario Plowmen’s Association.”
The OPA stated that over the next few weeks, they’re committed to engaging and meeting with stakeholders involved in the 2027 event, including local committee members, sponsors, partners, and also reaching out to the wider community to figure out how to move forward.
The IPM hasn’t been hosted in Lambton County since it was held in Marthaville back in 1991. It took place in Alvinston in 1973 and around Sarnia in 1923.
This historic five-day event gathers plowing fans, farmers, and visitors from all over to celebrate agricultural excellence along with community spirit.
