Halton Regional Police have arrested a 30-year-old man from Brantford following an investigation into theft at an aerospace company in Oakville.
In early June, police started looking into the situation after the aerospace firm reported missing specialized millwright and aerospace tools and equipment.
The investigators claimed that an employee was behind the theft after discovering that some of the stolen items were being sold on social media.
On June 30, officers executed a search warrant at a home in Brantford, where they took the suspect into custody. They reportedly found around $250,000 worth of millwright and aerospace gear along with more than $150,000 in cash.
Additionally, several high-end designer watches and sunglasses were recovered, believed to be linked to crime proceeds.
Abhishek Kumar Patel faces charges including theft over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 (trafficking).
Authorities are still collaborating with the affected business to identify more stolen items and see if any additional charges should be filed.
