We’re now in the first long weekend of fall, which means many folks will be taking some time off.

Monday is Canadian Thanksgiving, a federal holiday that falls on the same day as Columbus Day in the U. S.

This means that all federal, provincial, and municipal government offices will be closed on Monday. There won’t be any Canada Post delivery.

All Service Ontario branches are closed, but some services may still be available online.

All banks, credit unions, and other financial institutions will also be closed for Thanksgiving.

There won’t be any classes on Monday at the four publicly-funded school boards in Windsor-Essex, along with St. Clair College and the University of Windsor. Classes will pick up again on Tuesday.

The 311 call centre will be closed Monday; however, 311 can still be accessed online and through the app. For emergencies like fallen trees, sewer backups, or significant road damage, call the after-hours line at (519) 255-6326.

The 211 call centre will operate 24 hours as it normally does.

Devonshire Mall and Tecumseh Mall in Windsor will both be closed on Monday. However, Windsor Crossing outlet mall in La Salle is open from 10 a. m. to 6 p. m.

In the City of Windsor, garbage and yard waste collection will proceed as usual. That said, public drop-off and chemical waste disposal facilities on Central Avenue will not be open on Thanksgiving.

The H-4 Community Hub at the former Windsor Water World will remain open around the clock.

All community centres, customer care centres, and arenas in Windsor are shut down on Monday except for pre-scheduled or previously booked rentals. The central registration booking centre is also closed for Thanksgiving.

At the WFCU Centre, ice rinks will be available for rentals from 8 a. m. to 11 p. m. The Windsor Spitfires are set to host the Saginaw Spirit for a special Thanksgiving matinee with a puck drop at 2:05 p. m. on Monday.

All indoor pools will remain closed on Monday along with the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre and Adventure Bay Family Water Park.

The Lakeview Park Marina’s office and fuel dock will operate from 8 a. m. to 6 p. m. on Monday while launch ramps open at 7 a. m.

All branches of Windsor Public Library and Essex County Library will close Sunday and Monday.

No parking enforcement is happening in the City of Windsor over Sunday and Monday; street-metered parking is free during this time. Garages and surface lots require payment as normal though payment offices are shut down-online payments can still be made.

Transit Windsor buses follow their Sunday and holiday schedule. The customer service office at Chatham Street West terminal won’t open on Monday either.

The Chimczuk Museum and Francois Baby House are both closing down on Monday since it’s their regular off days. Streetcar #351 at Legacy Beacon won’t run either.

Every LCBO location as well as Beer Store outlets will close for Thanksgiving.

Supermarkets and convenience stores selling alcohol might either close or have reduced hours come Monday.
