Missing Whitby girl found safe in Mississauga

Police are left with more questions than answers after a six-year-old girl, who went missing from Whitby, was located safe. Shortly after Durham police held a press conference looking for information about the missing girl, they announced she had been found safe in Mississauga. While authorities say the girl was last seen with an “associate” of her father, he and other family members reportedly chose not to cooperate with investigators.

LILLEY: Deaths have dropped after Doug Ford defied safe-site activists

When Ontario’s Doug Ford government announced in August 2024 that it would close down so-called “safe consumption” drug sites, activists warned it would lead to more deaths. Instead, the opposite has occurred. As the province shifted focus from enabling drug use to providing treatment options, drug-related fatalities have dropped significantly. According to data from the Ontario Coroner’s Office, opioid overdose deaths across Ontario fell by 37.5% from 2024 to 2025. In Toronto alone, opioid overdose deaths decreased by 45% year over year.

U. S. authorities charge 30-year-old man in Tumbler Ridge shooting investigation

A man aged 30 from Washington state has been arrested related to the mass shooting incident in Tumbler Ridge, B. C., that occurred in February. Acting U. S. attorney Neil Floyd for the Western District of Washington stated on Tuesday that James Cody Bryant from Bellingham has been charged with conspiracy to murder individuals in a foreign country. If found guilty, Bryant faces up to life imprisonment.

There’s lots of discussion online after Donald Trump suggested that Iran could “take out” Los Angeles and San Diego with nuclear weapons during a speech at a campaign rally Monday evening in Nebraska. The U. S president addressed attendees in Grand Island about mobilizing voters for upcoming mid-term elections next month and assured them that rising gas and diesel prices-which have burdened Americans since he initiated attacks against Iran earlier this year-would decrease once he ends the ongoing conflict.
