As people in Ontario enjoy the nice weather this civic holiday Monday, some municipal services in Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent will be closed. That said, there are plenty of activities to take advantage of on this day.

Here’s a brief overview of what’s open and closed in the area on Aug. 3.

Windsor

In Windsor, city hall offices along with the 311 customer contact centre will not be operating.

If residents need urgent municipal assistance for issues like fallen trees, significant road damage, or sewer backups, they can call 519-255-6326. The city mentions that online 311 services and the Windsor 311 mobile app will still be accessible.

Residential garbage, recycling, organics, and yard waste collection will go ahead as planned without any holiday interruptions. Commercial waste and recycling collection will also continue as normal, according to the city.

The Public Drop-Off Depot and Household Chemical Waste Depot located at Central Avenue and North Service Road E. will not be open.

Recreation

The majority of community centres, arenas, indoor pools, fitness centres, day camps, and recreation programs will be closed unless previously arranged by bookings, as stated in a news release from the city.

The WFCU Centre’s ice rinks are available for rentals from 8 a. m. to 3 p. m., with a complimentary public skate session from 10 a. m. to noon.

Outdoor pools at Atkinson, Central, Lanspeary, Mic Mac, Remington Booster, and Riverside Centennial parks will remain open according to their regular schedules. Splash pads throughout the city will operate from 8 a. m. to 8 p. m.

The pool at the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre will not be available; however, its fitness centre is open from 10 a. m. to 6 p. m.

Adventure Bay Family Water Park is set to operate from 10 a. m. to 6 p. m.

The Lakeview Park Marina office along with its fuel dock will welcome visitors from 8 a. m. to 8 p. m., while launch ramps can be accessed from 6 a. m. to 8 p. m.

Transit and parking

Transit Windsor buses are running on their Sunday/holiday schedule today; however, the customer service office located on Chatham Street W. is closed.

Muni parking ticket payment offices won’t be open either; although payments can still be made online.

Libraries and museums

All branches of the Windsor Public Library are closed on Sunday, Aug. 2nd and Monday Aug. 3rd.

Both Chimczuk Museum and François Baby House won’t operate on Monday as well; however Streetcar No. 351 at the Legacy Beacon remains accessible from 11 a. m. to 7 p. m.

All Windsor Public Library branches will be closed Sunday Aug.2 , and Monday , Aug.3. ( )

Homelessness services

The Homelessness and Housing Help Hub at Windsor Water World located at 400 Wyandotte St. E., is open around-the-clock during this holiday period.

The city has announced that its Development and Heritage Standing Committee meeting typically held on the first Monday of each month has been rescheduled for Tuesday August4th at4:30 p. m.

Chatham-Kent

In Chatham-Kent most municipal offices along with services won’t be operating today per an announcement by local officials.

Ride CK Transit won’t run today while curbside waste collection scheduled for Monday has been pushed back by one day.

Health & emergency services

Chatham-Kent Public Health isn’t available today but urges anyone facing an emergency related to public health to call519-352-7270to use its after-hours service. Well water samples were put on hold Friday around11a. m. andwill resume Tuesday.

Riverview Gardens’ reception desk plus administrative offices won’t function today although nursing staff remains reachable every hour of every day through519-352 -4823.

Housing Services also closes today yet those needing help regarding homelessness may contactthe Homeless Response Lineavailable24/7at519-354 -6628.

Police , fire, and ambulance units serving Chatham -Kentstay operational round-the-clock over this weekend even thoughthe fire department’s administration office closes Monday.

Arts, Culture& Sports

Several theatres, museums across theregionwillcloseon Monday includingthe Chatham Capitol Theatre , Kiwanis Theatre , CKTickets Box Office , Chatham-Kent Museum, Ridge House Museum, M ilner Heritage House , Thames Art Galleryand ARTspace.
